From the Fortune of War but used in the movie "Master and Commander".

I mistakenly cut and paste the exchange from the movie, here it is from the book:

Two weevils crept from the crumbs. “You see those weevils, Stephen?” said Jack solemnly.

“I do.”

“Which would you choose?”

“There is not a scrap of difference. Arcades ambo. They are the same species of curculio, and there is nothing to choose between them.”

“But suppose you had to choose?”

“Then I should choose the right-hand weevil; it has a perceptible advantage in both length and breadth.”

“There I have you,” cried Jack. “You are bit — you are completely dished. Don’t you know that in the Navy you must always choose the lesser of two weevils? Oh ha, ha, ha, ha!”

I love the Aubry Maturin series, as well as Patrick O'Brian's lesser known other stories / books. He is also quite interesting character on his own.

I picked up Master and Commander after we last talked about this, but you need to be a sailor or at least very familiar with wooden ships. Very well written, very technical and one day I will learn the terminology and have a model- computer or otherwise. Maybe I should get my butt out on the water more and do something other then tend bar (ect,) and keep the vittles going. Horatio Hornblower until then. And yeah, Patrick O'Brian is in the Jerry Garcia school on how to handle celebrity- which I respect immensely. It must have taken steel balls to be a spy in France(?) during WW2.

I'm sorry that I didn't check in and that you were in the teeth of the storm. I'm glad everyone is safe. I hope you get power and clean up ASAP.

Now that is incredible.

Yup, and my ex had the old growth long leaf yellow pine floor ripped out without even consulting me! I could have removed the wood myself and sold it - that old longleaf yellow pine goes for good money.

Oh Well

P.S. Check your e-mail.
